Vertical Integration for Quality Control

When we fabricate and finish work in our own shop, we control every step. Material selection, cutting accuracy, weld quality, surface preparation, and coating application all happen under our supervision. Problems get caught and corrected before items leave the facility.

Outside fabrication introduces variables we cannot control. Vendor quality varies. Communication gaps cause errors. Transportation damages finish work. Schedules slip without warning. Our in-house capability eliminates these variables for work within our scope.

This control matters most for custom work. Standard catalog gates can be ordered from distributors. But custom gates, specific dimensions, particular designs, matched colors, benefit from the attention and control that in-house fabrication provides.

Our Fabrication Shop

Our shop handles the complete range of fence and gate fabrication. Cutting equipment includes saws, plasma cutters, and shears for different materials and applications. Forming equipment bends and shapes material for frames and decorative elements. Welding stations accommodate work from light ornamental to heavy structural.

Layout space allows assembly and verification before finishing. Gates are fully assembled to check fit and function before disassembly for coating. Jigs and fixtures ensure consistency across multiple identical pieces. The shop is organized for efficient workflow from raw material to finished product.

Qualified fabricators do the work. Welding requires skill developed through training and experience. Metal layout demands precision and spatial understanding. Our fabricators know their trade and take pride in their work. The quality shows in the finished product.

Materials We Work With

Steel is our primary material, tube, pipe, angle, flat bar, and plate in various sizes and gauges. Mild steel fabricates readily and takes powder coat well. Galvanized steel provides corrosion resistance for certain applications. Stainless steel serves specialized requirements.

Aluminum offers advantages for some applications. Lighter weight reduces operator loads. Natural corrosion resistance suits coastal environments. We fabricate aluminum gates and components, though the techniques differ from steel and the material costs more.

Material selection involves trade-offs. Steel is strong and economical but requires coating for corrosion protection. Aluminum resists corrosion but costs more and requires different welding techniques. We help customers understand options and select materials appropriate for their applications.

  • Steel tube and pipe for gate frames
  • Steel angle and flat bar for components
  • Steel plate for mounting and reinforcement
  • Aluminum for lightweight and corrosion resistance
  • Stainless steel for specialty applications

Powder Coating Line

Powder coating provides a durable finish superior to most paints. The electrostatic application wraps powder around edges and into recesses. Heat curing fuses the powder into a continuous film. The result resists chipping, scratching, and weathering better than conventional paint.

Our coating line handles gates and components efficiently. Sandblasting removes mill scale and creates surface profile for adhesion. Cleaning ensures no contamination interferes with coating. Application uses professional equipment with controlled settings. Curing ovens maintain proper temperature for correct duration.

Color options range from stock colors we keep on hand to custom matches for specific architectural requirements. Standard blacks, bronzes, and whites ship quickly. Custom colors require powder procurement but can match any specification. We verify color match before production runs.

Quality Assurance

Quality is verified, not assumed. Material certifications confirm what we are working with. Dimensional checks verify fabrication accuracy. Weld inspection confirms joint integrity. Coating thickness measurement verifies adequate coverage. Items that do not meet standards do not ship.

Documentation supports quality claims. We maintain records of material certifications, inspection results, and coating specifications. This documentation has value for projects requiring quality documentation and for resolving any questions that arise later.

Continuous improvement drives quality gains. We track issues, analyze causes, and adjust processes. Feedback from installation crews identifies fabrication details that affect field work. Learning from experience makes each project better than the last.

Custom Capabilities

Custom does not mean complicated. It means built to specific requirements rather than selected from a catalog. A gate sized for an exact opening is custom. A panel with specific picket spacing is custom. A component designed for a particular application is custom. We handle custom work routinely.

Design support helps customers get what they need. Shop drawings clarify fabrication details before cutting starts. Design suggestions may improve function or reduce cost. We work with architects, designers, and property owners to develop designs that meet requirements and can be built efficiently.

Prototype fabrication proves concepts before production. A single sample verifies design, function, and appearance. Adjustments happen before committing to production quantities. Prototypes cost more per piece than production runs, but they prevent expensive mistakes.

Contractor Services

Our fabrication and coating services are available to other contractors. Fence contractors without shop capability can access ours. General contractors with metalwork needs can leverage our capacity. Installers can focus on installation while we handle fabrication.

Contractor relationships work on clear terms. You provide specifications; we fabricate to them. Your customers remain yours. We do not market to your customers or compete for your projects. Fabrication services exist to support contractors, not undercut them.

Ongoing relationships bring advantages. We learn your preferences and quality expectations. Repeat work flows smoothly. Volume may bring pricing benefits. Good contractor relationships benefit everyone.

Capacity and Scheduling

Our shop handles significant volume. Multiple projects can proceed simultaneously across different workstations. Large projects can be phased to match installation schedules. Rush work can sometimes be accommodated when schedule permits.

Lead times depend on scope and current loading. Simple gates from stock material with standard colors have shorter lead times. Complex custom work, specialty materials, or custom colors take longer. We provide realistic estimates and meet our commitments.

Scheduling coordinates fabrication with installation needs. Gates must be ready when installation crews need them, but fabricating too early ties up space and creates handling risk. We schedule fabrication to support project timelines without creating storage problems.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you fabricate from my design or drawings?

Yes. If you provide adequate drawings or sketches showing dimensions and details, we can fabricate to your design. We develop shop drawings to confirm understanding before fabrication. If your design needs development, we can help translate concepts into buildable drawings.

What powder coat colors do you stock?

We stock common colors including black, bronze, white, and several architectural colors. Stock colors have no lead time for powder procurement. Custom colors are available with lead time for powder ordering, typically one to two weeks depending on manufacturer. We can match RAL, Pantone, or physical samples.

Do you offer galvanizing in addition to powder coating?

We coordinate hot-dip galvanizing through outside galvanizers. Galvanizing provides superior corrosion protection, especially for items in contact with soil or water. Galvanize-plus-powder-coat systems offer maximum protection. We can advise on when galvanizing is worthwhile.

What is your minimum order for fabrication services?

We have no strict minimum. Single gates, individual brackets, and small repair pieces are all acceptable. Very small jobs may have minimum charges to cover setup and handling, but we do not turn away work based on size. Small jobs often lead to larger relationships.

Can you repair or refinish existing gates and metalwork?

Yes. We repair damaged gates, fabricate replacement components, and refinish existing metalwork. Items can be stripped, repaired, and recoated to like-new condition. Sometimes repair and refinishing costs less than replacement; sometimes replacement makes more sense. We assess each situation and advise accordingly.
